Mobile Half Pipe

Another first from Street Skape – A Truly Mobile Mini Pipe!!

As with many new products this mobile ramp has been inspired by the need to fulfil a specific purpose. We were approached by Angus Council last year to design a half pipe that could be towed to different locations for use by youth groups of skaters and BMX riders. The design and manufacture of the prototype did prove challenging. However, in what is believed to be a European First, wheeled sports enthusiast in Angus can now enjoy their hobby no matter where they live. The mobile half pipe will travel the length and breadth of the county to areas where no wheeled sports facility currently exists. The unit will be used in urban and rural areas where demand is high after local groups have been consulted about its use and positioning.

The impressive mobile unit, which can be legally towed by a four wheel drive vehicle or minibus, measures 1.2m high by 4.8m long by 8m wide. (Total height from the ground 1.6m) and is fitted with seating to enable the underside to be used as a shelter When unhitched onto a suitable surface, the trailer uses hydraulics to first stabilise the trailer and then, with a flick of a switch, the arms of the mini pipe unfold to create a full size half pipe – ready for use by skaters and BMX riders!

The trailer is fitted with security measures, so it can be left safely UNSUPERVISED and has a safety certificate. The riding surface is a standard Skatelite Pro, which is used throughout the world by all professional skaters and BMX bikers.

Recognising that funding for permanent facilities can be difficult to obtain for some communities, the mobile unit will be used to meet this demand – and to encourage existing fund raising activities. The equipment compliments the work already underway by partnership groups to promote and develop wheeled sports in general.
